THE CLAW AND THE FANG BLOG

Welcome to 2009 everyone. Here’s to a brand new year full of peace, happiness and lots of new comics.

The website: theclawandfang.com is up and kicking. I am adding new pages and items as I get them, so be sure to keep popping in and checking it out. Two of the areas I will be updating are the Characters and the Lore pages.

The characters page provides a a little background about the characters, good, bad or indifferent. I have added the hero Justin already and will have the villain Noro up later today.

The Lore page will be up by Friday and outlines the main Eastern Russian Shamanistic beliefs that fuel the background story and give credence the whole concept. Most stories out there ranging from comic books to mainstream novels, all revolve around the concept of light and darkness – good vs. evil. The Claw and Fang uses that basic premise but throws in a few bylines using the Sky, Earth and trees as seen and practiced by Eastern Russian Shaman before they were forced by the Czar to conform to Christian beliefs.

The Shaman were the only people able to the spiritual world. The Shaman would travel to the spirit world acting as healers to rid the sick of the bad spirits that were haunting them. This is the basic premise I used for my story. I gave my Shaman, The Firewoman a key in the form of an “Eye” that becomes part of her body that allows her to travel the ethereal realms of Light and Darkness to maintain balance on Earth. The ancient shaman viewed the Earth as the places were both Light and Dark overlap. I use this philosophy in my story as by showing the Earth as the only place where both demons of Light and Darkness can co-mingle. Even though Demons have tremendous power they only can exist in their own realm and Earth. Demons of Darkness can not travel to the Realm of Light and Demons of Light are forbidden to travel into the Realm of Darkness. Human Shaman processing the ‘Eye” can travel anywhere in order to maintain balance on Earth.

Hopefully that didn’t confuse too many people. I will be explaining the background lore in much greater detail on the Claw and Fang website and even using a few diagrams to help illustrate my wordy explanations.

Check it out,

Mike
