THE BLUEWATER COOLER: Publisher Darren G. Davis rants and raves about the comic industry: ISSUE 9

We just got some good news this week from Diamond. The Michelle Obama comic book is now the highest selling indie comic for April. Not only is the Michelle Obama one a success but the Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin comics have sold out through Diamond. We will be going to a 2nd printing on both of these books.

The comic press is also going insane with these titles. In the last couple days we have been approached by a bunch of media sources as well as been on MSNBC, CNN, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today.

I never thought my comic career would include biography comics. I always liked these if they were done right. Yes, I picked up the "AMY FISHER" comic book! We are trying to make these a bit different. Ones in the past have been sort of on boring side. These are comic books and should have elements of fun in them. We have the writer play part as a narrator in the comic. But most important they need to be 100% accurate. The writers are doing so much research on these. It reminds me of doing a book report in high school!

I am proud of these titles. I hope everyone that reads them will get something out of them. The FEMALE FORCE: Hillary Clinton title was printed using Bluewater’s new green printing philosophy.

We have also just announced the POLITICAL POWER series which will feature people like Colin Powell, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and a bunch of other power players in Politics. We are not limiting the people to presidents, we have a lot of plans for this series as well.
Once again you will never know who Bluewater supports - these are meant to be 100% non-baised comics.

Diamond Books has picked up Bluewater as a publisher in the last couple months because of this title. My goal is to get into PEOPLE magazine with them. We have been in OK! But I have been reading PEOPLE since I was a kid!
I am sorry that I have not done the blog, but since I got back from Los Angeles we have been swamped! The Public relations train is a full time job! I really am shocked at how much press we are getting on these books!
