ANGELINA JOLIE AND BLACK EYED PEAS? EACH CELEB'S BIO COMIC BOOK HITS SHELVES MAR 30!
One tops the box office and the other tops the Billboard charts. But both are entertainers at the peak of their influence that continue to captivate the public imagination and are subjects of Bluewater Productions' biography comic books releasing this week.
"Female Force: Angelina Jolie" and "Fame: Black Eyed Peas" are scheduled to hit newsstands, comic book stores and online venues on Wednesday.
"Fame: Black Eyed Peas" follows the L.A.-based hip-hop group as they crafted a unique and infectious blend of hip hop and pop and climbed up the music charts with monster hits like "I Gotta Feeling" and "Boom Boom Pow." From a pair of 8th graders rapping for friends to a Super Bowl performance seen by more than a hundred million viewers, the Black Eyed Peas have transcended beyond traditional labels and become a music industry powerhouse.
Like the Peas, Angelina Jolie has also received an excess of accolades as she ascended to the top of the celebrity "A-list." "Female Force: Angelina Jolie" provides a fresh look at the Academy Award-winning actress' sometimes controversial career including her unconventional life and her breakout roles in "Gia" and "Girl, Interrupted." The issue, written by Brent Sprecher also provides insight into her diverse range of movie roles as well as her tireless charity work.
"I learned a great deal about her struggles and triumphs as an actress, mother and humanitarian," said Sprecher. "Often painted as an edgy, slightly dangerous movie star, what is often not revealed about Ms. Jolie is her tireless commitment to charity work and her dedication to the plight of refugees around the world as a Goodwill Ambassador with the United Nations."
"Female Force: Angelina Jolie" was penciled by Nuno Nobre. "Fame:Black Eyed Peas" was written by M. Zachary Sherman and penciled by Kristoffer Smith.
The last eight FAME comic book biographies have sold out. The comics will hit comic bookshops and online retailers like. The suggested retail price (SRP) for the upcoming comic book is $3.99. To find a comic book store near you go to www.comicshoplocator.com.
Bluewater also announced that on the same day as the release of the Jolie and Black Eyed Peas titles, the graphic novel featuring Justin Bieber will be available nationally. Prior to its national release, the Bieber graphic novel was exclusively available through Wal-Mart. The 40-page special edition, written by Tara Broeckel Ooten and penciled by Claudio Avella, retails for $7.99.
Bluewater first published the "Female Force" titles in 2008 as a broad examination of strong and influential women who are shaping modern history and culture. In past issues, the monthly series has featured Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Margaret Thatcher, JK Rowling, Sarah Palin and others.
The "Fame" series was launched earlier in 2010 as a companion piece to the successful "Female Force" and "Political Power" biography titles. The comic allows Bluewater to delve into the celebrity culture and understand how a person rises to fame, deals with the new-found celebrity and continue to produce in the public eye. That includes actors, sports figures, recording artists and royals.
