Mike Kutcher- The Claw and the Fang creator/writer
QUESTION1:
CRYSTAL: TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE UPCOMING “CLAW AND FANG” COMIC
? I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW I LIKE THE TITLE:)
MIKE: The Claw and Fang is a story about my twist on the relationship
between the Realms of Demons and the immortal Human souls that inhabit
Earth. The main character is a modern day MMORPG (massively multiplayer
online role-playing game) addict who is drawn into the eternal struggle
of balance between the Realm of Light and the Realm of Darkness. Unknown
to the Hero in the beginning, the online fantasy world s the closest
thing he can relate to in context to his heroic past lives.
QUESTION 2:
CRYSTAL: WHO DO YOU THINK WILL WIN THE SUPERBOWL ?
MIKE: I hope the Eagles win the Super Bowl. Philadelphia needs some
love.
QUESTION 3:
CRYSTAL: WHAT’S YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND “CLAW AND FANG”
MIKE: Ok oddly enough the initial premise for the Claw and FAng was
some graffiti written on the back of a bathroom stall. Someone wrote
"Werewolf ninjas are watching you."I really liked the idea
of these powerful creatures wielding swords. I messed around with the
sword concept for a while but always hit a stumbling block; why would
a powerful creature with claws and fangs need a sword? Then it hit me,
they would be powerful demons using ethereal swords with names: The
Claw and the Fang were born.
QUESTION 4:
CRYSTAL: I LIKE THE BLOG” WWW.CLAWANDFANG.COM”. HAVE YOU NOTICED A BIG
FAN FOLLOWING?
MIKE: That is a funny question. I wasn't really sure if anyone even
read the blog until I noticed people writing on the Claw and Fang Facebook
page. I was updating the Facebook site last week and read a post by
a person who had been reading the blog on Bluewater . It was an odd
feeling to know people are really reading your posts. I hope I can keep
them entertaining and informative.
QUESTION 5:
CRYSTAL: WHAT IS YOUR ZODIAC SIGN?
MIKE: I am a Gemini so I am very nervous and tense with tendencies to
act superficial and inconsistent rounded by fierce cunning and an inquisitive
nature or at least that is what they say I should be based on my sign.
Do people even read horoscopes anymore?
QUESTION 6:
CRYSTAL: WHAT WAS THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN 2008?
MIKE: The worst thing to happen to me in all of 2008 was being sent
to Camden, NJ for a work trip. If you don't believe me drive through
there yourself. My cabbie was afraid to stop the car..
QUESTION 7:
CRYSTAL: NAME THE BEST GIFT YOU RECEIVED AS A CHILD AND WHY?
MIKE: The best gift I ever got as a kid was the real G.I. Joe doll.
Not the ones promoted by the cartoon that were 6 inches tall, but the
real G.I. Joes that had combat uniforms, helmets, guns, knives and inflatable
rubber rafts. My G.I. Joe had a beard which I didn't think was very
G.I. so I borrowed my Dad's razor and gave him a shave. My Joe looked
really tough after that, he authentic battle scars.
QUESTION 8:
CRYSTAL: IS DARREN MEAN ? I THINK HE YELLS A LOT.
MIKE: Darren can be cruel, but only when he isn't monitoring his caffeine
intake like a diabetic watches their blood sugar. OK, I kid. The entire
experience has been great for me. As I am sure you are aware I have
never created a comic book before. I have worked on some films, written
and shot a few of my own projects but never a comic book.I have to say
the process is nothing like I thought it would be. Darren has been great
to work with, slave driver when needed and mentor as required.
QUESTION 9:
CRYSTAL: JOE OR SODA?
MIKE: I love Mocha espressos which is odd because I am not a big fan
of coffee or chocolate. I would drink soda but have a hard time stopping
at just one so I try to stay off them cold turkey.
QUESTION 10
CRYSTAL:IF YOU COULD BE A COMIC BOOK CHARACTER, WHO WOULD IT BE AND
WHY??
MIKE: Ghost Rider. I love motorcycles, skulls and chains. The concept
was cool and the original story-line was fun to read. Ghost Rider was
hands down my favorite comic book as a kid growing up so much so when
I got my first motorcycle I bought a black leather jacket like Johnny
Blaze.
